How does the process work?
Find it.
The first step is finding the handwriting you want to use. It can be on an old letter, postcard, recipe, greeting card, envelope, or even a fun picture your child drew for you. Any handwriting you want to preserve! If you’re not sure what would work well for a piece of artwork, that’s ok! I have had clients send me multiple samples and I chose what parts to use, and I’ve had clients who have had specific lines they wanted in the end product.
If you’re interested in a project using waveform art (audio), contact ForZora for the best way to get started! Click here to see an example.
Next, if you want to use one or more of your own photographs, pick those out as well. Please note that I cannot use copyrighted images from professional photographers. Again, if you’re not sure what photo would work best, I’m happy to look through several images to find one that is just right.
If you do not have a photograph, that’s ok, too! I have a large selection of nature backgrounds that we can use to help complete the project.
Scan it, snap it, send it.
Once you have identified the relics you would like to use for the project, you can either scan them onto your computer or take a snapshot of them with your phone. You will email them to me, and I will work with you on any adjustments that need to be made.
I prefer to work with a scanned image or a picture so that you never have to part with your keepsake. There will be no need to worry about them being lost or damaged as it will remain in your possession throughout the entire process!
Sign it.
Now that we’ve talked about the project, the handwriting, and the photos, I will send you the custom art commission contract. Once we’ve both signed we are all set!
There is also a non-refundable deposit required at this stage of the process.
For prints that will be 8x10 or smaller, the deposit is $30.
For prints that will be larger than 8x10, the deposit is $45.
Create it.
At this point I will begin looking through the pieces you’ve chosen and coming up with the design. I will work with you to make the perfect piece of artwork to remember and honor your loved one.
Once I have a sample ready for you to view, I will add it to a password protected website.
Print it.
We will now work together on the printing process. You will make the final decision on the size of print you want and what material it will be printed on. The printing material most often ordered is metal, wood, canvas, and bamboo. I will give you my professional opinion on what material would work best for your piece of artwork and your budget. I am happy to lay out several options for you to choose from!
After we’ve decided on a print size and material, I will provide you with the cost (including shipping), and your custom artwork will be on its way to you.
